Poverty

Help raise awareness for poverty throughout the world and here in the United States. Here are some featured organizations that are doing great things in the fight against poverty—and here are some ways you can help!

• Send a cow, a goat or a buffalo (or chicks, ducks or geese) to a family who needs it through Heifer International [www.heifer.org]
• Support Barefoot College so more grandmas can bring more solar energy to more places [www.barefootcollege.org/]
• Help drill a well or build a water system through Living Water International, Water.org or charity: water
• Make a loan (or encourage other people to make a loan) on KivaU.org
• If you’re at least thirteen, use social media to follow organizations (like CARE) combating poverty and celebrities (like Alicia Keys) raising awareness about poverty as a way to show your interest and support for their work
