Gender Equality
Just like these organizations, you can raise awareness about gender equality and the challenges that women and girls across the globe still face.
- Go online to join the movement against child marriage at girlsnotbrides.org [www.girlsnotbrides.org]
- Spread the word about the Girl Declaration (found at girleffect.org) and tell everyone—including boys and men— how important it is to value girls
- Start your own Girl Up Club [clubs.girlup.org/home] in your school or help organize a celebration of International Day of the Girl [www.dayofthegirl.org]
- If you’re at least thirteen, use social media to follow organizations (like SHOFCO) and leaders (like Melinda Gates and Christy Turlington Burns) who are working to protect, support and empower women around the world—play the Half the Sky game on Facebook too (and share it with a friend if you like it!)
